Site and handling conditions

industrial freight elevator

An industrial freight elevator brief changes when the building changes. Warehouse shafts, dock-adjacent openings, plant pits and mezzanine transfers ask for different pit depth, dock height, lift height and power notes. This page translates those conditions into purchase inputs. It does not claim completed installations.

Site inputs that belong on a comparable RFQ
Condition What to write Why factories ask What stays outside unless requested
Warehouse landing Pallet size, aisle width, car clear width and rated capacity at the stated load A pallet-plus-jack load can exceed a nameplate if the load center sits away from the car wall Rack relocation, floor repair, seismic design input for the building
Dock-adjacent shaft Dock height, truck bed range, landing sills and weather door notes A car that meets the warehouse floor can still miss the dock lip Dock leveler, seals and pit work for the truck well
Plant pit Pit depth, lowered height, overhead clearance and three-phase supply or hydraulic room Travel and cylinder or rail packages change when the pit is shallow Excavation, waterproofing, anchors and commissioning
Mezzanine transfer Lift height, beam capacity, landing gates and duty cycle in lifts per hour A mezzanine landing can need a different door and interlock package Mezzanine steel, guards and building permits

Write destination and quantity on the same brief. A factory that quotes FOB plant and a factory that quotes delivered-to-dock are not yet comparable. Installation, freight and commissioning stay named extras unless you ask for them. Open elevator options when you still need to choose a free standing freight elevator versus a shaft unit, or send the written requirement when the application is already clear.

Industry disputes that belong in the RFQ, not in marketing copy: nameplate capacity versus application load; equipment price versus installed cost; powered versus manual or hydraulic packages chosen from duty and available power. Freight Elevator Sourcing does not rank those options and does not publish a savings percentage. See units before quotes for the lb / kg and inch / mm names to copy.
